First baseman Frank Chance had 5 hits and 4 RBI as the Detroit Tigers beat the
New York-AL Highlanders by a score of 11 to 8.

Chance made sure the Detroit fans enjoyed themselves.  He slapped a single in
the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit which scored a run in the 2nd inning,
stroked a one-base hit scoring a run in the 4th inning, delivered a single
which brought home a run in the 5th inning and singled which plated a run in
the 7th inning.  New York-AL had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The win went to Henry Schmidt(2-8) who allowed 8 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Schmidt was helped out by Clarence Currie who recorded his 2nd save.  Red
Donahue(5-5) suffered the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
