Harry Gaspar allowed Clark Griffith to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the Brooklyn Superbas 6 to
4.

Cincinnati erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
scoring 3 runs on 4 base hits. Johnny Bates started the inning off right
when he doubled. After an out was recorded, Jimmy Esmond came to bat and
ripped a single which scored a run. Eddie Grant then slapped a single.
Grant got a good lead and stole second. One out later, Larry McLean stepped
in and he lashed a one-base hit which was good for two more runs. Brooklyn
had 12 hits in the game while Cincinnati had 8, but Cincinnati had the more
timely hits.

Gaspar(6-3) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Doc Scanlan(2-3)
was given the loss. 'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Gaspar
said.
