Hank Sauer hit a grand slam at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh Pirates beat
the Washington Nationals by the score of 6 to 3.

Billy Pierce(4-6) pitched well for Pittsburgh in their victory.  He went 6
innings surrendering 5 hits and 6 walks.  Pittsburgh finished with 10 hits
while Washington ended up with 6.  

Pierce got help from Joe Page who was credited with his 9th save.  Red
Munger(1-3) was the loser.  He saw his ERA jump from 3.43 to 3.96 as gave up
6 runs in 8 innings.
