Left fielder Frank Thomas went deep and had 2 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs
defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 4 to 2 at Wrigely
Field.

Chicago-NL came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Duke Snider got things going when he
ripped a single.  Thomas stepped up next and he smashed a two-run homer.  For
the game Chicago-NL out-hit Cincinnati 11 to 8.  

Harry Brecheen(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. Jim
Hearn(4-4) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 8 innings allowing 11 hits and
no walks.
