Left fielder Billy Hamilton had 4 hits and scored 3 times and Kid Gleason was
able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the
streaking Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Brooklyn Bridegrooms by a score
of 5 to 1 at Washington Park.

Brooklyn fell behind quickly as the Philadelphia offense came through in the
first inning plating one baserunner. Hamilton slapped a base-hit. Hamilton
got a good lead and stole second. After an out was recorded, Philadelphia
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Philadelphia
banged out 12 hits on the afternoon.

The win was credited to Gleason(14-7) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
The losing pitcher was Bob Caruthers(6-8). He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

Philadelphia continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 7 games
and counting. 'We're on quite a roll lately' said Harry Wright. 'I just hope
we can keep it going.'
