Hugh Duffy had 2 base hits and Ted Lewis pitched a complete game as the Boston
Beaneaters outscored the Washington Senators in 10 innings 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Finally, Boston prevailed in
the 10th inning.  Marty Bergen delivered a one-base hit.  Lewis stepped up to
the plate and he lined a base-hit.  Billy Hamilton then reached on an error.
Two outs later Duffy stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error
giving Boston the victory as 6,956 happy fans celebrated wildly.  Boston
finished with 9 hits in the victory.  

Lewis(7-1) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Cy Swaim(2-4) was hit
with the loss.  The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 31-20.  With the
loss Washington now has a record of 18-33.
