George McQuillan pitched 7 strong innings as the red-hot Detroit Tigers
defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 8 to 1 at Washington
Park.

Detroit took the lead for good in the 5th inning plating an isolated run on 2
hits.  After an out was recorded, Beals Becker ripped a single.  Ed Konetchy
got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Fred Beck
then drew a walk.  Mike Mowrey followed next and he banged out a single
scoring the run.  Mowrey took second on the throw.  Detroit finished with 17
hits while Brooklyn ended up with 3.  

McQuillan(5-1) allowed no runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Jack
Warhop(6-6) was charged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 14 hits and
2 walks in 6 innings.  

Detroit continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 7
games and counting.
