Right fielder Sherry Magee smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the St.
Louis-AL Browns defeated the Cincinnati Reds 7 to 6 at Palace of the
Fans.
Magee provided much of the offense. He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd
inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning.
Cincinnati made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
Rube Marquard(6-4) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Marquard
got help from Claude Hendrix who earned his 13th save. Slim Sallee(4-4)
suffered the loss.
Rob Hickok was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
