One run was the difference at Crosley Field as the Cincinnati Reds defeated
the Cleveland Indians in 10 innings 4 to 3.

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Finally, Cincinnati pulled the
game out in the 10th inning.  After two outs Phil Masi drew a walk.  Marty
Marion stepped up next and he stroked a base-hit.  Clint Conatser then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Enos Slaughter followed and he smacked a single
making Cincinnati the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Cincinnati finished with 12 hits while Cleveland ended up with 8.  

The victory went to Randy Gumpert(1-2) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Bob Lemon(6-7) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 11 hits and 3 walks in 9
and 2/3 innings.
