Bob Cerv knocked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Kansas City Athletics
outscored the New York-AL Yankees in 10 innings 12 to 11.

Both teams were tied at 11 runs apiece after nine innings.  Kansas City came
out the victor in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Mickey Mantle
drew a walk.  Gil Hodges stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Cerv then doubled making Kansas City the winners and sending the 25,396 fans
home happy.  Overall Kansas City out-hit New York-AL 17 to 12.  

Marv Grissom(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Jack
Meyer(5-5) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 4 hits and 3
walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.  

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Cerv said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
