Asa Brainard had a complete game at Newington Park as the Baltimore Canaries
beat the Philadelphia W Whites 18 to 15.

Baltimore came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 4 runners
on 4 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Jack Manning who made
the Baltimore fans a happy lot when he ripped a single bringing home two
baserunners.  Baltimore provided plenty of action in the 3rd inning when they
had 5 runs on 3 hits and the 4th inning tallying 5 runs.  Baltimore had 16
hits for the afternoon.  

Brainard(4-18) was the winner allowing 15 runs for the game. Candy
Cummings(9-8) absorbed the loss.  He allowed Baltimore 18 runs in 8 innings
of work.  

'Wow.  That's about all I can think to say.' said Warren White following the
victory.  'If ever a team needed a win, it was us.'
