Paul Hines had 5 hits and 2 RBI and Dupee Shaw completed the game without help
from the bullpen as the Providence Grays defeated the Boston Beaneaters by
the score of 16 to 8 at Messer St. Grounds.

Hines made sure the Providence fans enjoyed themselves.  He singled resulting
in a run in the 2nd inning, laced a single in the 4th inning, doubled in the
6th inning, tripled knocking in a run in the 7th inning and lined a base-hit
in the 8th inning.  Providence bats were very productive in the 7th inning
with 4 runs on 5 hits.  Providence had many opportunities throughout the game
and scored in 6 separate innings.  

Shaw(8-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 8 runs. Jim
Whitney(5-9) suffered the loss.  He was not very effective, surrendering 16
runs in 8 innings.
