Kid Nichols threw a 3 hitter and right fielder Jack Stivetts had 4 hits as the
Boston Beaneaters defeated the Chicago Colts by the score of 2 to 1 at South
End Grounds.

Chicago was unable to claim the lead after Boston went ahead in the bottom of
the 4th inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits. Boston had a total of 8
hits for the game.

The victory was credited to Nichols(12-3) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Clark Griffith(8-6) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 2 runs and 8
hits in 8 innings.

Nichols was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of
the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm
felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only
hope that I can do it again next time out!'
