Orval Overall threw a 3 hitter as the New York-NL Giants defeated the dreadful Chicago-NL Cubs in 11 innings by a score of 2 to 1 at Polo Grounds. Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, New York-NL prevailed in the 11th inning. Honus Wagner was hit by a pitch. One out later, Bob Unglaub was the next batter, but he struck out. Hans Lobert then laced a base-knock, and an error was also committed. Gabby Street came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Miller Huggins came up to bat and drew a walk making New York-NL victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. New York-NL had only 4 hits for the game. The win went to Overall(5-6) who allowed 1 run in the game. Rube Vickers(7-11) absorbed the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 10 and 2/3 innings. Overall was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
