In a tight game it was the New York-NL Giants 4, the Washington Nationals 2 in
12 innings at Polo Grounds.

Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings.  Finally, New York-NL
prevailed in the 12th inning.  Bob Bescher got things going when he reached
on an error.  Miller Huggins stepped up next and he drew a walk.  After an
out was recorded, Honus Wagner then belted a three-run homer resulting in an
exciting win for New York-NL and a wild post-game celebration by the home
town fans.  New York-NL managed 11 hits in their victory.  

The win went to Tom Hughes(1-3) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Smoky Joe
Wood(13-5) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 11 and 1/3
innings.
