Bob Elliott cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Johnny Schmitz pitched a
complete game as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the Cleveland Indians 2 to
1.

Cleveland was unable to climb back into it after Cincinnati went ahead for
good in the 4th inning plating an isolated run. After two were out Elliott
hit a bases-empty home run. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati
was able to put down the rally.

The win was credited to Schmitz(5-3) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Bill Voiselle(1-2) ended up with the loss. Jim Murphy was in a sour mood
after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this
game. We made too many mistakes.'
