Cleveland was unable to climb back into it after Cincinnati went ahead for good in the 4th inning plating an isolated run. After two were out Elliott hit a bases-empty home run. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down the rally. The win was credited to Schmitz(5-3) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Bill Voiselle(1-2) ended up with the loss.
