Philadelphia-NL had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs. After an out was recorded, Hank Bauer was the sparkplug when he was hit by a pitch. Sherm Lollar was next and he drew a walk. Andy Seminick then launched a three-run homer. Philadelphia-NL took care of New York-AL with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. George Spencer(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Mel Parnell(2-3) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Mark McGonigle was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'
