Eddie Yost went yard and had 2 RBI and Johnny Sain completed the game without
help from the bullpen as the Chicago-NL Cubs clobbered the outmatched
Brooklyn Dodgers, 11 to 1.
Chicago-NL took the lead off Billy Loes in the first inning scoring 2 runs on
2 base hits. Danny O'Connell led off and he hit a single. Yost struck out,
unable to help the rally. One out later, Duke Snider then popped a two-run
clout over the fence. That early scoring was all that Sain(5-5) needed.
Chicago-NL had a total of 16 hits for the game.
Loes(3-2) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 6 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
