Jim Whitney had a complete game and third baseman Ezra Sutton had 6 hits and 2
RBI at South End Grounds as the Boston Beaneaters, running on all cylinders,
ripped the Philadelphia Quakers by a large 22 to 9 margin.

It was a good day for Boston thanks to Sutton.  He lined a base-hit in the 1st
inning, lashed a single in the 2nd inning, doubled in the 4th inning, lined a
one-base hit in the 6th inning, tripled plating two runs in the 6th inning
and ripped a base-hit in the 7th inning.  Boston bats were hot in the 1st
inning with 5 runs on 7 hits and the 6th inning which saw them plate 12 runs
on 8 hits.  Boston finished with 24 hits in the victory.  

Whitney(12-8) finished the game allowing 9 runs in the victory. Edgar
Smith(0-1) was hit with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 24 hits and 3
walks in 8 innings.
