Pretzels Getzien had a strong outing and Joe Quest collected 2 extra-base hits
as the Detroit Wolverines defeated the St. Louis Maroons 11 to 3 at Union
Park.
The game started off with Detroit taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 4 hits. Detroit provided plenty of action in the 9th
inning with 4 runs on 5 hits. Detroit banged out 20 hits on the afternoon.
Getzien(7-10) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Charlie
Sweeney(4-9) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 20 hits and 3 walks in
9 innings.
'It felt really nice to get this win,' Getzien said. 'I kind of dictated the
game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
