Frank Lange(4-5) was the winner as Philadelphia-AL Athletics shutout the
Brooklyn Dodgers in 11 innings by a 1 to 0 score at Shibe Park.

The score was knotted at zero after nine innings.  Philadelphia-AL won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  Fred Merkle singled.  Merkle then
stole second base.  Danny Murphy then reached on an error.  Frank Schulte
stepped in and he banged out a single making Philadelphia-AL the winners and
sending the 9,469 fans home happy.  Philadelphia-AL out-hit Brooklyn for the
game, 10 hits to 7.  

Charlie Smith(3-5) ended up with the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for
him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
