The New York-AL Yankees bested the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by a 12 to 8
score at Shibe Park.

New York-AL had 5 runs cross the plate in the top of the 7th inning when they
came up with 4 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Sid Gordon who quieted
the home crowd when he doubled plating three runs.  New York-AL out-hit
Philadelphia-AL for the game, 17 hits to 13.  

Marlin Stuart(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Herm Wehmeier(4-3) was the loser in relief.
