20,273 fans watched an exciting game at Ebbets Field. The Brooklyn Dodgers
topped the Chicago-NL Cubs by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Chicago-NL was unable to claim the lead after Brooklyn went ahead in the 2nd
inning scoring a single run on 2 base hits. Jackie Jensen doubled. Dee
Fondy followed and he laced a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Roy
McMillan then would ground out scoring the run. Chicago-NL made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Bob Buhl(5-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Ray Narleski
got the save, his 13th. Mike Garcia(1-7) was given the loss.

'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us today' Ron Mead said.
'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard to take.'
