In a close game it was the Cleveland Indians 11, the Washington Nationals 9 at
Municipal Stadium.

Hoyt Wilhelm(1-1) pitched well in relief and was credited with the victory.
He surrendered only 1 hit and no walks in 1 inning.  The score went
back-and-forth with the lead changing 7 times.  

Bob Feller preserved the game for Wilhelm, recording his his 5th save.  Bob
Rush(4-8) was the loser.  He served up 5 gopher balls in 6 and 1/3 innings.
