Fred Goldsmith was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and right fielder King Kelly had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the
Chicago White Stockings topped the Boston Red Stockings by a score of 5 to 3
at South End Grounds.

The game was won by Chicago with a run in the top of the 8th inning.  Cap
Anson reached on an error.  Ned Williamson next to the plate and he reached
on an error.  After an out was recorded, Goldsmith then would hit into a
force play scoring the run.  Chicago totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.

Goldsmith(12-3) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Jim
