Left fielder George Wood ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Pete Wood shut
Chicago down as the Philadelphia Quakers bested the Chicago White Stockings
13 to 10 at West Side Park.

Wood was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He hit a bases-empty home run in the
5th inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 7th inning and clubbed a three-run
home run in the 8th inning. Chicago tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.

The victory was credited to Kid Gleason(2-2) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 10 runs. Gleason was helped out by Wood who recorded his 2nd save.
Gus Krock(1-8) took the loss. He allowed 13 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
