Mel Parnell completed the game without help from the bullpen at Yankee Stadium
as the New York-AL Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 8 to
2.

Sid Gordon had a good day at the plate.  He banged out a single in the 2nd
inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 5th inning.  Both teams
finished the game with 9 hits.  

The win went to Parnell(5-6) who allowed 2 runs in the game. The loss was
charged to Vinegar Bend Mizell(4-4).  He was knocked around, surrendering 7
runs in 5 innings.  

The winning ways continue for New York-AL.  They now have a record of 9-1 in
recent days.  Pittsburgh has a record of 25-28 after the loss.
