Al Maul slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Ed Morris went the distance as the
Pittsburgh Alleghenys defeated the Boston Beaneaters by the score of 8 to 7
at Recreation Park.

Pittsburgh won the game with a rally in the 8th inning as they scored 4 runs
on 6 base hits. The big moment was provided by Fred Carroll who brought a
roar from the partisan Recreation Park fans when he doubled clearing the
bases. Boston threatened in the 9th but Pittsburgh was able to put down the
rally.

Morris(4-0) allowed 7 runs on the game. John Clarkson(14-8) was the loser. He
got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Jim Hart said. 'We did what
we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
