Ed Smith pitched a complete game and Harry Niles had 3 base hits as the St.
Louis Browns defeated the Cleveland Naps by the score of 5 to 4 at Sportsmans
Park.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning St. Louis went on top for good scoring one
runner on 2 base hits.  Cleveland threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.  

The victory was credited to Smith(8-4) who went the distance, allowing 4 runs.
Bill Bernhard(7-4) suffered the loss.  'It's a disheartening loss, no
question about it' said Nap Lajoie 'But we have to get over it and get ready
for the next game.'
