Germany Schaefer had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Washington Nationals beat
the New York Highlanders by a score of 5 to 4.

The game was won by Washington when they scored a run in the top of the 9th
inning. After an out was recorded, Schaefer drew a walk. Jimmy McAleer then
called for a steal which was successful. Kid Elberfeld then reached on an
error scoring the run. Washington had 13 hits for the afternoon while New
York had 8.

The win went to Bill Otey(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Jack
Quinn(5-2) was given the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 2
walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Jimmy McAleer sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
