Third baseman Heine Groh homered and had 4 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs
outscored the St. Louis-AL Browns 8 to 6.
Chicago-NL came up with 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Howard Shanks
opened up the inning nicely when he smacked a single. Bobby Byrne next to
the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Groh then clubbed a two-run
home run. Chicago-NL dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings.
Russ Ford(3-7) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 6 innings. Willie
Mitchell got the save, his 8th. Ed Reulbach(5-7) absorbed the loss in
relief.
