Center fielder Wally Westlake had 2 base hits as the Cleveland Indians
defeated the Boston-AL Red Sox in 13 innings by a score of 2 to 1 at
Municipal Stadium.
The score was tied at 1 after nine. Finally, Cleveland pulled the game out in
the 13th inning. Don Lenhardt delivered a solo blast resulting in an
exciting win for Cleveland and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans. Overall Cleveland out-hit Boston-AL 8 to 2.
Mike Garcia(8-2) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
