Bobby Adams connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Washington
Nationals beat the Philadelphia-NL Phillies by a score of 7 to 4.

Washington jumped on top of Philadelphia-NL in the bottom of the 5th inning
plating 2 runs using 2 hits.  After an out was recorded, Billy Martin got
things rolling when he delivered a base-hit.  Bob Porterfield dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out.  Adams then blasted a two-run home run.
Washington managed 13 hits in their victory.  

Porterfield(7-5) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Harry
Byrd gained credit for his 8th save.  Bobby Shantz(5-4) took the loss.  He
pitched 6 innings giving up 9 hits and no walks.
