In a great finish the New York-AL Yankees came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 7 to 5 at Crosley
Field.

New York-AL came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Hank Thompson led off and keyed the rally when
he ripped a base-knock.  Sammy White came to the plate and doubled.  Minnie
Minoso then launched a three-run homer.  This was a game of many highs and
lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Vern Law(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 5
runs. Jack Meyer preserved the game for Law, recording his his 8th save.  Don
Bessent(2-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  

'Robert Baker was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one on the
road like this.  We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'
