Dave Foutz had a complete game as the St. Louis Browns beat the Pittsburgh
Alleghenys by a score of 5 to 4.

Pittsburgh was unable to claim the lead after St. Louis went ahead in the 7th
inning scoring one runner. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but St. Louis
was able to put down the rally.

Foutz(12-8), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The losing
pitcher was Pud Galvin(9-6). He surrendered just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings.

When questioned about the loss, Horace Phillips said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'
