Center fielder Pop Corkhill had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Tony Mullane went
the distance at League Park where the Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the
Louisville Colonels by the score of 10 to 9.

Cincinnati erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  Bid McPhee led off and started the rally when he
stroked a one-base hit.  Frank Fennelly stepped up next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Corkhill then laced a base-hit.  Corkhill was safe on a
stolen base.  John Reilly stepped into the box and doubled knocking home two
runners.  The Cincinnati offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

Mullane(8-5) lasted until the end allowing 9 runs for the win. Toad
Ramsey(15-13) was the losing pitcher.  He got hammered, allowing 14 hits and
3 walks in 8 innings.
