Jocko Milligan launched 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Ice Box Chamberlain
pitched a complete game as the Philadelphia Athletics outscored the
Washington Statesmen 9 to 3.

Milligan had a great day at the plate. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, lofted a three-run bomb in the 3rd inning and ripped a one-base hit
which scored a run in the 5th inning. Philadelphia totaled 9 hits on the
afternoon.

The victory went to Chamberlain(11-7) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Kid Carsey(6-15) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 homeruns in his 9
innings.

Milligan said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
today. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
