WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Chief Zimmer blocked the plate, saving a run!

Deacon Phillippe was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Fred Clarke jacked one out of the ballyard as the Pittsburg
Pirates outscored the Boston Beaneaters 8 to 1.

Phillippe(10-3) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for
the Boston batters. He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings. Pittsburg banged out 14 hits on the afternoon.

Bill Dinneen(5-6) absorbed the loss. He allowed 14 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings. Pittsburg continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 6
games and counting. Clarke was in a great frame of mind in the clubhouse
after the game, 'Everybody's contributing now. Timely hitting, some slick
fielding plays and good pitching when we need it. Man, when that's
happening, this sure is an easy job!'
