Third baseman Ed Gremminger collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI as the
Boston Beaneaters defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings by a score
of 6 to 5 at South End Grounds.

Both teams had scored 5 runs after nine full innings.  Boston was victorious
in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Duff Cooley drew a walk.  Pat
Carney followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Cy Vorhees then threw a
wild pitch.  Gremminger followed next and he doubled resulting in an exciting
win for Boston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Boston had 16 hits for the afternoon while Philadelphia had 12.  

Togie Pittinger(9-5) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Vorhees(2-5)
ended up with the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1 and 1/3
innings.
