Shad Barry had 2 base hits as the Philadelphia Phillies outscored the Brooklyn
Superbas 4 to 1.

Philadelphia came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring
3 runs on 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Rudy Hulswitt initiated the
scoring spurt when he hit a single. One out later, Barry came up and he
slapped a one-base hit. Oscar Jones then fired a sharp breaking ball that
appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by him and was ruled
a passed ball. Kid Gleason was up next and he ripped a base-hit plating two
runs. Johnny Lush came up to bat and reached on an error. Jack Doyle added
to the uprising and ripped a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning.
Philadelphia managed 9 hits in their victory.

The victory was credited to Fred Mitchell(2-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 1
run. Chick Fraser preserved the game for Mitchell, recording his his 1st
save. Jones(4-11) suffered the loss.
