WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Roy Campanella blocked the plate, saving a run!

Ted Kluszewski launched 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Bill Wight was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Yankee
Stadium as the New York Yankees pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the
Cleveland Indians by the count of 7 to 6.

New York came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs on 3 hits. Billy Cox kicked off the action when he ripped a
base-knock. Richie Ashburn followed next and he ripped a one-base hit.
Kluszewski then doubled giving New York the victory as 37,891 happy fans
celebrated wildly. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5
times.

Wight(2-1), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Gerry
Staley(6-5) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits
without retiring a batter.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Kluszewski said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting
you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
