Pittsburgh fans certainly got their money's worth at Forbes Field. Saul Rogovin(7-4) pitched a rare no-hitter as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics toppled the Pittsburgh Pirates 1 to 0. Rogovin had overwhelming stuff this afternoon. He simply never gave the Pittsburgh batters a decent pitch to drive. He walked 3 Pittsburgh batters. The Philadelphia-AL players and coaches started to leave Rogovin alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. Pittsburgh went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th. Early Wynn(6-6) took the loss. When asked how his stuff was out there, Rogovin looked a bit incredulous (as did this reporter) and replied 'A bit better than average, I'd have to say' SCORESHEET: 1951 Philadelphia-AL Athletics at 1951 Pittsburgh Pirates E.Valo-A1 A1:F/9 *3*:G/43 C1:G-DP/3 D1:G/63 63>1o E.Joost-A1 A2:G/3 B2:W>b1 C2:K *8*:K G.Woodli-A1 A3:Si B3:G-DP/3 *6*:W>b1 D3:F/9 63>1o R.Campan-A1 A4:G/63 *4*:G/63 C4:E/4>12 D4:Do G.Hodges-A1 *2*:HBP B5:Si C5:K D5:HBP A.Pafko-A1 A6:Do>13 B6:W>12 b C6:W>23 1 D6:G/3 J.Collin-D6 1 2 b1 W.Westla-D7 H.Thomps-A1 A7:W>b1 B7:P/4 C7:G-DP/3 *9*:G/63 G.Hatton-D7 63>1o B.Avila-A1 A8:G-DP/6 B8:G/63 *7*:K D8:F/7 43>3# 23 1o S.Rogovi-A1 A9:F/9 *5*:Si C9:G/53 D9:G/53 D.Mitche-A1 A1:G/3 B1:G/43 C1:G/31 D1:F/9 R.Schoen-A1 A2:W>b1 *4*:G/53 *7*:G/43 D2:G/53 Y.Berra-A1 A3:L/4 B3:W>b1 C3:F/9 B.Thomso-A1 A4:G/63 B4:G-DP/6 C4:W>b1 43>1o M.Irvin-A1 *2*:L/5 *5*:G/63 C5:G/63 M.Vernon-A1 A6:G/43 B6:G/43 *8*:G/43 A.Dark-A1 A7:K B7:G/63 C7:G/43 B.Brown-A1 *3*:G/31 *6*:G/53 C8:G/63 E.Wynn-A1 A9:G/3 B9:G/43 *9*:G/43 P.Mullin-C9
