Dupee Shaw pitched a 4 hitter as the Detroit Wolverines outscored the Buffalo
Bisons in 10 innings 2 to 1.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Detroit
prevailed in the 10th inning. Ned Hanlon reached on an error. Two outs
later Sadie Houck stepped in and he laced a base-hit. Tom Mansell then
reached on an error scoring the run. The game was a scoreless duel until the
8th inning.
Shaw(2-0) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. The losing pitcher was
Pud Galvin(11-12). It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned
run in his 10 innings of work.
Shaw was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the
game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt
great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope
that I can do it again next time out!'
