Center fielder Homer Smoot had 2 base hits and Ed Murphy pitched a complete
game at Robison Field where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds
in 11 innings 3 to 2.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Finally, St. Louis
prevailed in the 11th inning.  Smoot drew a walk.  George Barclay next to the
plate and he laced a one-base hit.  After an out was recorded, Roy Brashear
then drew a walk to load the bases.  Fred Hartman came up and he hit a
sacrifice fly making St. Louis the winners and sending the 1,243 fans home
happy.  St. Louis managed 10 hits in their victory.  

Murphy(3-7) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Noodles Hahn(7-6) was
hit with the loss.  He surrendered 10 hits and 3 walks in 10 and 2/3 innings.
