TEAM RISP- Cubs: 1 for 13 Braves: 3 for 11

The sizzling Chicago-NL Cubs came roaring back in the top of the ninth to
spoil the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,,
was 4 to 3.

Chicago-NL had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Jack Lelivelt initiated
the scoring spurt when he slapped a single. Ed Lennox stepped up next and he
lined a one-base hit. Donie Bush then doubled scoring a run. Bobby Byrne
stepped in and he drew a walk to load the bases. One out later, Rube Oldring
came to bat and reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning.
Despite losing, Boston-NL out-hit Chicago-NL 11 to 8.

Eddie Plank(3-7) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jack Ferry got
the save, his 4th. Rube Waddell(0-2) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2
runs and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Allan Kaufman was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
