15,191 fans watched an exciting game at Crosley Field.  The Washington
Nationals topped the Cincinnati Reds by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Washington won the hard fought
contest in the 15th inning.  Joe Adcock laced a base-knock.  After an out was
recorded, Roy Sievers came up and he stroked a one-base hit scoring the run.
For the game Washington out-hit Cincinnati 17 to 8.  

The victory went to Jim Konstanty(2-5) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Bob Chipman(2-3) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 5 hits
in 3 innings.  

With this win, Washington has a 39-33 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.
With the loss Cincinnati now has a record of 36-28.
