At Forbes Field the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the Chicago-NL Cubs 7 to
4.

Pittsburgh went ahead for good in the 4th inning when they came up with 2 runs
on 3 hits.  Pittsburgh rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Billy Pierce(6-2) who allowed 4 runs in 7 innings. Ellis
Kinder was credited with his 8th save.  Vic Raschi(7-3) was the losing
pitcher.
