Alex Kellner delivered 8 solid innings as the Boston-AL Red Sox defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics 4 to 3 at Fenway Park.

Kellner(3-3) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He surrendered only 5
hits and no walks in 8 innings.  Philadelphia-AL tried unsuccessfully to come
back in the 9th.  

Kellner got help from Mike Fornieles who earned his 6th save.  Mike
Garcia(9-5) took the loss.  He gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings.  

Jim Murphy was in a sour mood after the game.  'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
