Charlie Sweeney allowed just 3 hits as the struggling Philadelphia Quakers
were badly beaten by the Providence Grays, 19 to 2.

Paul Hines enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He laced a base-knock in the 1st
inning, rifled a three-run blast in the 5th inning and delivered a one-base
hit in the 8th inning. Providence bats were very productive in the 5th
inning with 7 runs on 5 hits and the 8th inning which saw them plate 8 runs
on 4 hits. Providence finished with 16 hits in the victory.

Sweeney(4-1), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The loss
was charged to John Coleman(6-24). He was knocked around, surrendering 19
runs in 8 innings.

'Sweeney was the man today,' Harry Wright said. 'He had just about every
pitch working.'
