9,640 fans were treated to a fine game at Polo Grounds as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The New York Giants won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

New York took the lead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating one
baserunner using 3 hits. Red Murray banged out a single. Murray was safe at
second on a stolen base. Chief Meyers then singled scoring the run. Boston
threatened in the 9th but New York was able to put down the rally.

The winning pitcher was Art Fromme(5-4) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Hooks
Wiltse was credited with his 4th save. Lefty Tyler(6-8) took the loss. He
surrendered 4 runs and 9 hits in 8 innings.

'We won because we did the little things right.' John McGraw said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
